Multimedia Fountain
QR code-controlled multimedia fountain
The QR code-controlled interactive dancing multimedia fountain consists of eight autonomous fountain units mounted on a circular reservoir. It is a dynamic fountain with constantly moving streams. The fountain operates through show programs that are activated cyclically at specific times or on demand by passersby. Interaction with the fountain takes place via a manual control panel and sensors for individual streams mounted on it.
Multimedia fountain programs
The first two programs are dynamic displays of water and light, running alternately every 20 minutes. The first show lasts 8 minutes and the second lasts 12 minutes. Starting at the top of the hour, the fountain switches to two-show mode every 20 minutes. The water jets from individual nozzles are activated in such a way as to effectively present the interplay of water and light in different ways, depending on the programming of the presentation. The first is a subdued show, subtly manipulating water jets and color lighting, while the second show is a very dynamic manipulation of water jets and a variety of colors after dark. During the break between shows and throughout the night, the fountain operates in a rest mode. This involves a stream of water being lifted slowly from each nozzle to a small height in a clockwise direction. Also in idle mode after dark and throughout the night, the individually activated water streams are illuminated in different colors.
Interaction with the multimedia fountain
Interaction with the multimedia fountain involves activating individual water jets with your hands using the fountain’s manual control panel. The control panel is made of granite or steel. Proximity sensors are built into the panel top and arranged in a circle to reflect the layout of the fountain units on the water tank, which makes it easier to play with the water jets. Each sensor is assigned to a single stream. The panel works in such a way that when one of the sensors detects the presence of a hand above it, the entire fountain switches from automatic show mode to manual stream control mode. The fountain switches from manual control mode via the panel to automatic show mode whenever the fountain’s automatic system does not register any cyclical changes in the panel sensors for a short period of time.
Multimedia fountain – starting the show
The show is started on demand at any time by a passerby who, by scanning the QR code from the information board with their phone, launches a website controlling the selection of two music shows (there can be any number of them). When a piece of music is selected, the fountain interrupts the automatic show and begins to dance to the music coming from the walker’s phone. When another walker wants to start the “dancing fountain” with the QR code while it is in music mode, information about the ongoing show and the possibility of joining it is displayed on the phone. After accepting this proposal, the phone starts playing music. In this way, any number of people can join in to admire the “dancing fountain.” The fountain will switch from “dancing fountain” mode to automatic show mode when the fountain’s website is closed or the screen of the last walker participating in the music program is turned off. The fountain’s website application has a geolocation security feature that prevents the “dancing fountain” from being activated outside its immediate vicinity.
